Integrated Blocking Diode Now Available for MagnaDC Programmable Power Supplies

2월 16, 2017 • Flemington, NJ USA

Magna-Power Electronics, a worldwide leader in programmable DC power products, released a new Integrated Blocking Diode Option (+BD) for its TS Series, MS Series, and MT Series MagnaDC programmable DC power supplies. The new blocking diode option addresses demands in applications where there is significant back electromotive force (back-EMF) or the possibility of a DC output voltage that could exceed the power supply's output voltage rating, such as: powering DC motor drives, battery and capacitor charging, and driving large electromagnets, among others.

In these applications, the integrated blocking diode can be used to prevent back-EMF from the energy stored in the load into the power supply's output. Furthermore, the integrated blocking diode will prevent the power supply's internal bleed resistance from discharging the energy stored in the load when the power supply is off or in standby. "Magna-Power is focused on supporting our customer's demanding applications,” said Michael Williams, Magna-Power’s Director of Sales. “The addition of a blocking diode provides critical protection for both the power supply and customer load for challenging application requirements."

The addition of a blocking diode provides critical protection for both the power supply and customer load for challenging application requirements.

The Integrated Blocking Diode Option (+BD) provides an internally heat-sinked protection diode on the positive output terminal of a MagnaDC programmable DC power supply. This diode protects the product's output from reverse voltage up to 1200 Vdc. All voltage sensing is performed after the protection diode—at the product's output terminals—making the diode's operation completely transparent to the performance of the power supply. The new blocking diode option is available for models with output voltage rating from 125 Vdc through 1000 Vdc from the TS Series (5 kW to 45 kW), MS Series (30 kW to 75 kW), and MT Series (100 kW to 2000 kW+).

All Magna-Power products are designed and manufactured at the company’s vertically integrated headquarters in Flemington, New Jersey USA. The company’s products are available directly from Magna-Power in the USA, through Magna-Power sales offices in the United Kingdom and Germany, or from a network of distributors in over 40 countries worldwide.
